As former members of the United States Air Force, with one family member who is still active duty, we would like to take this blog space and time to recognize Memorial Day and the fallen military members that sacrificed their lives to give us this great country.

Memorial Day in the United States is a solemn occasion that honors the sacrifices made by the nation's veterans, particularly those who gave their lives in service to their country. Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day traces its roots back to the aftermath of the Civil War when communities across the nation began holding ceremonies to honor fallen soldiers by decorating their graves with flowers and flags. Over time, the observance of Memorial Day expanded to commemorate all American military personnel who have died in the line of duty.

For generations, United States veterans have made immense sacrifices to defend the nation's freedoms and uphold its values. From the battlefields of the Revolutionary War to the shores of Normandy, from the jungles of Vietnam to the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan, American service members have bravely answered the call of duty, often at great personal cost.

Memorial Day serves as a poignant reminder of their courage, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to protecting the nation and its citizens. It is a day for reflection, gratitude, and remembrance, as communities come together to honor the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Through ceremonies, parades, and tributes, Americans pay tribute to the fallen, ensuring that their legacy of service and sacrifice is never forgotten.

May the Lord comfort surviving families on this solemn day and that we never forget the sacrifices for this great country.

Through Christ,
